Making Winter Warmer with Offcut Blankets

A little while ago, we were contacted by Ross from the fabulous organisation 'Making Winter Warmer for those Without'. 'Making Winter Warmer for those Without' was a project set up to collect donations to create rucksacks which would be handed out to the homeless people in the North East. These items include things like warm jumpers, hats, gloves, tins of soup, sleeping bags, flasks, toiletries, anything that would benefit someone who is sleeping rough on our streets. So far, 'Making Winter Warmer' have made over 200 rucksacks. It all started from a basic idea, but thanks to the power of social media, and the kind hearts of their followers, 'Making Winter Warmer' has become a community of caring souls who want to help others. The rucksacks  help the people who receive them not only stay alive in the cold, but also to stay positive in the knowledge that lots of people care about them. 'Making Winter Warmer' have now got to a point where they can help not just the homeless people, but other deprived communities. They have given boxes of womens/childrens clothing and toys to Womens refuge, like minded charities and groups and even Stranded Seamen on the Tyne! Ross had spotted us in the paper when an article of our offcut fabrics was published. Ross asked if we could in any way help with 'Making Winter Warmer' and of course, we couldn't say no! We have lots of offcut fabric that we like to donate to charities, and in this case they were made into blankets to help the homeless stay warm this Winter. After collecting the blankets last week, Ross posted a lovely post on Facebook, thanking us for our kind donation. 'a huge thank you to everyone at The All-In-One Company Ltd in Ashington, they make some cracking onesie's and from the excess material they have been helping some good causes and MWW is one of them the wonderful lasses there grafted in their own time and made us a load of funky blankets to help our friends. With the weather getting colder and colder these will be a massive help in keeping them warm, thank you! absolute diamonds x' We feel honoured to be able to help out with such an amazing cause. We hope our blankets help keep those in need warm this Winter. We'd also like to say thank you to Ross and everyone at 'Making Winter Warmer' for not only allowing us to help out, but for everything they do for those in need.
