Five special occasion all-in-ones we’d love to have made

When Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge produced an heir in the summer of 2013, there was only one way we could ever have Royal Baby Onesiecommemorated the birth of bonny Prince George: with the production of a royal baby onesie, of course! Handmade in the UK, these patriotic sleepsuits are just the thing for youngsters growing up in tandem with the young prince. We love our special occasion all-in-ones, and that got us thinking: what if we were to produce other special occasion onesies for some of the most momentous events in recent years? Here are five special occasion all-in-ones we’d love to have made...

The royal wedding

Before the royal baby came the royal wedding, and while the event itself might have been more memorable for Pippa Middleton’s bottom than anything else the sense of occasion on the 29th of April 2011 was nevertheless felt across the nation. We all remember Kate’s dress and William’s military garb, but we’re sure the moment the cameras left them alone the royal couple would have wanted to don something more comfortable. As a flawless style icon, Kate would have looked fantastic in one of our bespoke onesies, and as a man habitually forced to dress for the sake of the cameras, wouldn’t Prince William have appreciated the opportunity to really relax for once?

Andy Murray’s Wimbledon victory

The last few years have been memorable ones for Great Britain – alongside the royal wedding and the royal baby, we’ve also enjoyed the London 2012 Olympics and Andy Murray’s momentous Wimbledon victory in 2013. We couldn’t have been more delighted with Andy’s straight-sets demolition of Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon final, but the first British Wimbledon Champion since Fred Perry is hardly the most demonstrative man in front of the cameras. People often complain that Andy lacks warmth and personality, but we think all he really needs is a makeover. Slip Murray into a bespoke onesie and you’ve immediately produced a more fun, approachable interviewee. If only we’d thought of that at the time!

Barack Obama’s inauguration

2013 wasn’t just a big year for the UK, however. In January of last year President Barack Obama was sworn in for a second term in a ceremony that corresponded neatly with the 150th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation. Stars including Beyoncé and Lady Gaga offered performances to liven up one of the most memorable days in recent American history, while First Lady Michelle Obama reached into her redoubtable wardrobe for a number of swoon-inducing outfits for the balls and events to follow. Would we have liked to have produced some special, all-American all-in-ones for President Obama’s second inauguration? You bet we would have!

Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement

Back to the UK now, and for football fans 2013 was a year that will never be forgotten. After leading Manchester United to an unprecedented 20th Premier League title, manager Sir Alex Ferguson announced his retirement in May of 2013. It’s safe to say that British football will never be the same again (as United’s slide down the league table will attest). Our football onesies are the perfect garments to celebrate any team, player or even manager, and we’d love to see Ferguson wearing a United-themed onesie at his local golf club, attracting bemused looks from the other elderly ladies and gentlemen in attendance…

Tom Daley’s relationship revelation

Sticking with the sporting theme, 2013 was also a big year for one of our favourite celebrities here at The All-In-One Company. We worked with Tom Daley to help create a celebrity onesie for the London 2012 Olympics, before watching the British diver win a bronze medal in the 10-metre men’s platform event. Following a big 2012 for Tom, the diver released a YouTube video in December of last year announcing that he had been in a relationship with a man – Dustin Lance Black – since early in the year. The country was delighted for Tom and we only wish we’d had the chance to create another bespoke onesie in his honour so Tom could relax in front of the telly with his new beau.
